The NEFTA runs from the Scottish borders down to North Derbyshire and Lincolnshire in the south, from the Pennines in the west out to the east coast.

The region has an excellent winter league running from October to March. This is designed to introduce new shooters to competitions in a friendly atmosphere. Each round includes an FT course 30 targets, a silhouette course (20 targets) and a 10 traget pistol course All four £4.00. Visitors welcome.

During the summer the region holds national events. These include the NEFTA Classic - a two-day event consisting of a 40-shot FT course and a 40-shot silhouette course. The Selby Game Fair Plate was introduced in 1999 when the NEFTA was invited to stage a FT competition as part of the fair.
